Clearfield officials eye potential ATK jobs, tax revenue

City officials are hoping a $14 million investment in ATK could bring in hundreds of millions of dollars and 800 new jobs. Community Development Director Adam Lenhard said the plan is to capture the tax increment to assist in economic development. To do so, they have to create a specialized project area, which would allow the city to promote and facilitate expansion by ATK in Clearfield.

The first step has already been taken as city council officials, acting as the Community Development and Renewal Agency, have made a resolution authorizing staff to prepare a draft economic development project area for the ATK EDA. This draft will then be available for public comment and review. The budget for this project is also being looked at during the same time period. Lenhard said if this project area and plan are ultimately approved, it will be a boon for the area. Standard-Examiner
