Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims has increased from the revised number of 381,500 last week to 367,750 this week.

The report dated 20 December 2012 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 8 December 2012. During this week, 2,714 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 2,845 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.

• 2,630 initial UI claims filed (increase of 19 from the prior week and decrease of 167 from same week in 2011).
• 167,611 continued UI weeks claimed (increase of 835 from the prior week and decrease of 3,177 from same week in 2011).
• 6,903 continued EUC08 weeks claimed (increase of 44 from the prior week and decrease of 5,657 from the same week in 2011).
