Walmart coming to West Haven: Construction could begin early next spring

After several years of discussions, possibilities and negotiations, Walmart is finally coming to West Haven.

Mayor Brian Melaney told city council members at a work session Wednesday that Walmart has decided to move forward with building a store in West Haven.

This will be the first grocery store in West Haven since it was incorporated 19 years ago.

Melaney added that Walmart should attract other retailers to the surrounding area. Standard Examiner
